News and Updates Seeking corporate donations We are reaching out to local businesses and corporations headquartered in Alexandria, to help us come closer to our goal of raising $50,000 by June 30. If you know of a company that can help, please email us. Successful fundraising this spring The Phone-a-Thon Potluck on May 18, the Great Zucchini event on April 19, and the Arts & Crafts Fundraiser at Chinquapin on March 31 were very successful, generating over $6,600 in total and helping us spread the word to many newcomers. (We have yet to add the receipts from the Los Tios dining-out evening.) We also raised $5,000 during our kickoff event in September. Many thanks to everyone who has made these events possible. Update on "MyTownHelper" Grant We applied for a MyTownHelper grant from General Mills/Hamburger Helper, but despite 70 comments posted from members of our community, our project was not among the award-winners announced in mid-May. We are still seeking grant opportunities! Join us in our monthly meetings! Meetings about progress on fundraising and design are held at 7:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in Club Room 4 of the Chinquapin Rec Center. They are no longer than one hour long.
