Take a look. Spring 2009 Update We've officially raised $25,000! Thank you so very much for your donations, assistance in spreading the word and general interest in getting this project going. The walls, floors, and the big climbing pieces have all been ordered. We do have enough money to buy some initial infant pieces for the infant area, but we are waiting to do so until we figure out final pricing for other components of the room, such as the donor wall and mounting the children's painted tiles. We are still seeking donations to ensure that we will be able to cover these costs and create a high-quality, visually appealing space. We are now in the aesthetics and final ordering phase, which includes the creation of a wall mural and the installation of over 200 tiles that have been painted by Alexandria's kids. Have a Tile Painted to Feature Your Child's Name For $20, our artists will paint your child's name on a tile that will become part of a permanent art installation at Chinquapin. The Soft Playroom is an indoor playroom for children ages 0-5. It is being developed by a group of parents and the non-profit Natural Exploreum. The space and its maintenance have been graciously donated by the City of Alexandria but private funds are needed to purchase soft toys, padding, flooring, and to make room improvements.
